Easter/ Eostre

We had a lovely Spring Easter this year. A very relaxing day. The night before the kids dyed Easter eggs. The Easter Bunny hid the real eggs in the house, and the candy filled eggs outside so they could do an Easter egg hunt with their cousins. I made beautiful homemade blueberry muffins for breakfast to go with the hard boiled eggs the boys found that morning. As always a chocolate bunny comes in their Easter baskets, and as you can see, Sam eats his right away, where David still had his a week later with only 1 bite out of it. Dinner was eaten before I got a picture, but traditionally, I always make leg of lamb and ham (for those that do not like lamb). Lamb is so expensive in Utah, that it is a treat that we get once a year. Of course I served all of the sides, including hot cross buns, and a triffle for dessert! I still think it is funny how the Christians took over all of the Pagan holidays. I bet if you ask a random Christian why Easter is celebrated with eggs and rabbits, not one will know why. I find it most facinating that Easter is the holiday that celebrates fertility. Hence the eggs and rabbits (reproduce like rabbits). The Pagans celebrated Mother Earth, and all of her gifts. The fertility of humans and animals is important for us to go on in life. Beautiful....So, Happy Eostre!
