David is nearly 8. He is in 2nd grade and he loves to play hockey, play with his friends, do science experiments, play make-believe and read. In fact he loves reading so much that when I was at the school the other day, I asked David's teacher why he was sitting not with the other children. She says, "He has a problem with reading" I found this absurd as he is reading the Tale of Despereaux, which is a 5-6th grade reading level, by himself, and he loves to read. So, I said "I don't understand, he reads so well at home!" His teacher replied, "No, he will skip doing the tasks he needs to do, so he can read" I found this a bit funny as my David would rather read a book than do his classwork, and I was thinking he was perhaps pretending he could not read! That stinker! :)
