Halloween!!!

This was Maartje's first Halloween..she dressed like a witch and we took her trick-or-treating. Machiel was a Roman Scholar (Maartje and I thought it fit him well :) I was a Pirate and the boys, David was Harry Potter and Sam Dracula. Halloween night we all went over to our firend's house and had dinner together and the kids went out trick-or-treating together!

Our Cabin in Capitol Reef Area

We found a great place to stay instead of a hotel. This way we could have breakfast here and it was beautiful and slightly secluded hidden among the rocks and brush. We even had a woodburning stove. So it was really cozy!

During our Hike of Capitol Gorge

There are so many beautiful pictures where ever you turn while hiking here. I love this shot I got that makes the distant mountain look gold. The sun was hitting it just right! The erosion is amazing with all of the cool shapes it carves into the sandstone. The boys thought it was pretty neat how the rock was 'carved' into a little 'house' complete with a door and 2 windows!

Capitol Gorge and Petroglyphs

I must say the red rock areas of Utah must be my favorite. They are so surreal! Seeing the Petroglyphs makes me wonder about the first people that lived here...how did they survive in the heat of summer?

Tante Maartje visits!

Maartje, Machiel's sister, came to visit us all the way from the Netherlands! She stayed for a few weeks and we did lots of fun things! We took a trip to Capitol Reef where we did a small hike and stayed in a beautiful cabin.

Going to the Pumpkin Patch!

Like I said I was super sick, so luckily Aunt Brittney was able to go with Sam on the fieldtrip to the Pumpkin Patch. Sam and Weston are cousins and best friends. It is fun to see them together! The children got to pick out a pumpkin to take home and carve for Halloween!

Sam is 4!

Sam wanted a knight birthday again even though he had a knight birthday last year. I changed it up a little. They had to go on a quest for the holy grail. They fought the dragon again, only this was the black dragon. Also, instead of a castle cake, I made a dragon cake. It turned out pretty good. It was a really fun birthday party!
